You send measurements and photographs, we send a drawing and a sprayed sample, you approve both, and only then does anything get cut. Half at order and half before dispatch, and a lead time of five to seven weeks. Every bespoke piece is built to the same standards as the range and tested the same way, because a one off for a child is not a reason to test it less.

Specification

Dimensions: made to your dimensions, within the limit in the product name

Age range: as your drawing

Material: any timber in the range, chosen at order

Finish: any finish in the range, or matched to a sample you send us

Load rating: as the equivalent standard piece, stated on your drawing

Standards: BS EN 12520 and BS EN 12521 for domestic furniture, finish to BS EN 71 part 3, and the tip test in BS 4875, and BS EN 747 where the piece is raised

Edges and fixings: every exposed edge rounded to a 3mm radius, every fixing recessed and capped, and no pinch point anywhere a hand goes

Assembly: flat packed unless the design cannot be

Weight: approximately 96 kilograms

Lead time: 5 to 7 weeks from drawing approval

Drawing and a sprayed sample issued for approval before work starts

Payment: 50 per cent at order, balance before dispatch

Tested to the same standards as the standard range, every time

Batch record kept for ten years so a matching piece can be made later

Made to measure items are exempt from the 14 day cancellation right once work has begun

In the box

Your piece, made to the approved drawing

A copy of the drawing and the approved finish sample

Anti tip restraints and corner caps where the piece needs them

A hex key, a spanner and instructions written for your piece

A printed safety card with the numbers for your dimensions

Assembly and safety

Flat packed with a hex key and printed instructions. The conversion kit is listed alongside it and is about a fifth of the price of the piece, which is the point. We keep the conversion parts for a range for ten years from the day we stop making it, so a piece bought for a first child can be brought back up to size for a third.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0985/0516/3080/files/Made_to_Measure_Bunk_Bed_for_a_Low_Ceiling.jpg?v=1789245137
