Free UK delivery on everything
Every order, every size, no minimum. A five pound step stool and a two thousand pound room package both ship free to any UK mainland address. The cost is in the price rather than bolted on at checkout, which we think is the honest way round.
| Order | Service | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Small items, kits and accessories | Courier, one box | 2 to 4 working days |
| Beds, wardrobes, shelving walls | Pallet to kerbside | 5 to 10 working days |
| Room packages and bundles | Two person, into the room of your choice | Booked with you by telephone |
Made to order lead times
Most of what we sell is cut and finished after you order it. The lead time is stated on every product page, usually three to six weeks. Made to measure work runs six to ten weeks. The delivery times above start when the piece is finished.
Two person delivery
Anything large enough to need two people comes on a two person service at no extra cost within the United Kingdom. The crew will carry it to the room you want it in. They do not assemble, and they cannot take packaging away unless you ask when booking.
Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland
Still free, but allow an extra 3 to 5 working days. Some pallet routes to the islands run weekly rather than daily.
International delivery
We ship worldwide. Outside the United Kingdom delivery is charged, because a bunk bed is a pallet rather than a parcel.
| Destination | Cost | Time from despatch |
|---|---|---|
| Ireland and Europe, including Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland | £49.95 | 7 to 15 working days, road freight |
| United States, Canada, the UAE, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia | £199 | 4 to 8 weeks, freight |
| Rest of the world | £249 | 6 to 12 weeks, freight |
One flat charge per order, not per item. A bed, a wardrobe and a set of drawers in the same order pay the freight charge once.
International delivery is kerbside to a ground floor entrance. The free two person into-the-room service is a United Kingdom service only. Somebody needs to be there to receive a pallet and to get it inside.
These are flat rates that cover the great majority of orders. On a very large room package, or an address a freight carrier cannot reach, we will email you with the real cost before we take payment, and you can cancel for a full refund if it does not work for you. We will never charge more than the rate you paid at checkout without asking you first.
Import duty and local tax
Orders shipped outside the United Kingdom do not include import duty or local sales tax. What you pay us covers the goods and the freight only.
Furniture attracts real duty in most countries, and at room package values the amounts are not small. Your customs authority sets the charge, the carrier or a customs broker collects it before delivery, and there is usually a brokerage fee on top. We cannot tell you the amount in advance. Please check your own country's duty rate on furniture before you order.
You are the importer of record. If a shipment is refused or abandoned because these charges were not paid, it comes back to us at our cost, and we refund the goods but not the freight either way.
Safety standards outside the United Kingdom — please read
Our raised beds, bunk beds and mid sleepers are designed, built and tested to BS EN 747, the British and European standard for bunk beds and high beds. That standard governs guard rail height, the gaps that stop a child's head or body being trapped, ladder design and structural load.
BS EN 747 is not the same as the rules in every country, and in the United States it is not the applicable standard at all. Children's bunk beds sold in the United States are subject to the Consumer Product Safety Commission's mandatory rule at 16 CFR Part 1213 and to ASTM F1427, which differ from BS EN 747 in several dimensions. Our beds are not certified to those American standards, and we do not hold a Children's Product Certificate for them. Canada has its own requirements under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.
What that means in practice: if you are buying for a home in the United States or Canada, you are importing a bed built to a different national safety standard. We will not pretend otherwise, and we will not claim compliance we do not hold. If you are buying for a school, nursery, care setting, rental property or anywhere subject to inspection outside the United Kingdom and Europe, please email us before ordering — the paperwork you will be asked for may not be paperwork we can supply.
Our full Safety and Standards page sets out exactly what each item is tested to.
Mattresses and fire regulations
Mattresses and upholstered items are made to the United Kingdom Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations, and where stated to Crib 5 for contract use. Other countries have different flammability rules, including California TB117-2013 in the United States. Ours are not tested to those.
Assembly
Everything arrives flat packed with an Allen key, numbered parts and instructions that use pictures rather than paragraphs. A bed takes about an hour with two people. If you would rather not, we can quote for assembly at delivery on room packages within the United Kingdom.
Fixings supplied for wall anchoring are for British wall construction — brick, block, dot and dab plasterboard, and timber stud at 400 or 600mm centres. Anti-tip anchoring is not optional on tall furniture in a child's room. If your walls are timber frame, concrete or blockwork, have a local fitter supply the right anchors.
If something arrives damaged
Photograph the packaging before you open it further and email us within 48 hours. Pallet freight is rough and occasionally a corner takes a knock. We replace the affected panel, not the whole item, and usually within a week in the United Kingdom. On an international order we send the replacement panel by courier, which is far quicker than returning furniture.
On international freight, sign for the delivery as damaged before the driver leaves. Without that note the freight carrier will normally reject the claim.
