1. What this covers
What we collect when you visit kidsizefurniture.com, order, contact us or subscribe; why; who we share it with; and your rights. We handle data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What we collect
- Order and account data — name, billing and delivery address, email, telephone, order history, and the timber batch recorded against your order.
- Payment data — handled by Shopify Payments, PayPal, Klarna and similar. We receive the last four digits, card type and authorisation result only. We never see or store your full card number.
- Technical data — IP address, browser, device, referring and viewed pages, via cookies.
- Marketing data — your email and preferences if you subscribe, and whether you open or click.
- Correspondence — messages about products, made to measure work, deliveries, returns and trade in.
We do not knowingly collect any data about your children. If you tell us a child's age or height so we can advise on sizing, we use it for that conversation and do not store it against your account.
3. Why, and our lawful basis
- To fulfil your order, including payment, delivery, assembly queries and returns. Basis: performance of a contract.
- Customer service and guarantee claims, including keeping your batch record so a later piece matches. Basis: contract and legitimate interests.
- Product safety, so we can contact you if a component is ever recalled. Basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests.
- Fraud prevention and site security. Basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.
- Accounting and tax records. Basis: legal obligation.
- Marketing emails with your consent, or as an existing customer under the soft opt-in. One click unsubscribes.
- Analytics. Basis: consent.
4. Cookies
Essential cookies run the basket and checkout and cannot be switched off. Analytics and marketing cookies are set only with your agreement through the banner, and you can change or withdraw that at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer.
5. Who we share with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with providers who help us run the shop, each under contract: Shopify Inc. (platform and hosting); payment providers; carriers and two person delivery crews; our workshop; email and analytics providers where you have consented; and professional advisers, HMRC or law enforcement where legally required.
6. International transfers
Some providers sit outside the UK. Where data leaves the UK we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement and UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, with additional safeguards where needed.
7. How long we keep it
Order and transaction records: seven years, for HMRC and the Companies Act. Batch records and guarantee data: ten years, matching the guarantee. Marketing data: until you unsubscribe. Correspondence: three years. Analytics: up to 26 months.
8. Your rights
You may ask what we hold and get a copy, have inaccurate data corrected, ask us to erase it, restrict or object to processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Email us and we respond within one month.
9. Complaints
Contact us first. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
10. Children
Our shop is for adults buying for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
