Made to measure runs to a fixed sequence. You send measurements and photographs, we send a drawing and a sprayed sample, you approve both, and only then does anything get cut. Half at order and half before dispatch, and a lead time of five to seven weeks. Every bespoke piece is built to the same standards as the range and tested the same way, because a one off for a child is not a reason to test it less.

Assembly and safety

Flat packed with a hex key and printed instructions. Fittings are threaded steel inserts rather than screws into board, so it can be taken apart and rebuilt as the child moves rooms, which most of them will do twice. Every fixing is recessed and capped, and the caps are supplied in a small bag with spares, because one of them will be prised off and posted somewhere.

How long it lasts

This one converts rather than being replaced. The conversion kit is listed alongside it and is about a fifth of the price of the piece, which is the point. We keep the conversion parts for a range for ten years from the day we stop making it, so a piece bought for a first child can be brought back up to size for a third.
